Toyota Again Recalls 1.7 Million Cars Over Fuel Leakage Issues

Toyota had again made decisions to recall nearly 1.7 million of vehicles worldwide because of varying defects that may lead to fuel leakage.

Three separate recalls were made affecting GS Lexus luxury model in North America, the Avensis Sedan and Station Wagon models in Europe, RAV4 sports-utility vehicles and Wish in Japan. Japan were the second-largest of recall in history. However, no accident was reported that related to this fuel leakage problem. Read more to find out more on the defects.

Issue ranges from faulty fuel pipe to fuel sensor problem. Improper installation of fuel sensor may cause it to loosen and may lead to engine vibration and cause leakage overtime. This problem affects most of the Lexus model in the United States.

Another problem involves irregular fuel pipes that increase the likelihood of cracks and further leakage. Cars affected by this problem was Avensis that was sold in Europe and New Zealand. The same problem were also affecting other 16 Japanese models, including the subcompact, RAV4 sport-utility vehicle and also Wish cars.

However, these problems are not affecting the performance of the cars.
